Kilfenora Cathetral Kilfenora is also known as the 'City of the Seven Crosses', although there are only five of them left around the Cathedral and Kilfenora village. The Cathedral was built in 1189 on the site of an early monastery. As a diocese, Kilfenora maintained its independence until 1750. But since 1883, through some strange administrative twist in the catholic hierarchy, it appears that no lesser than the Pope himself is effectively the Bishop of Kilfenora.

Besides the historic, there is the musical side to Kilfenora. The 'Kilfenora Céilí Band' has achieved world fame and has existed in some form or another since 1870. If you like Irish traditional music and dancing, you've come to the right place.
Leimanagh Castle The Pubs in Kilfenora have Irish music and set dancing on a regular basis. Despite of tourism being one of the main industries in the area for many years, the music in Kilfenora is as pure as you will hear anywhere in Ireland. In fact, you may hear a note or two played in our house when you are staying with us.

There is plenty to do in the area during the day within a ten mile radius. You can visit Ballyvaughan via the Dolmen and the Aillwee Cave. The beaches of Fanore and Lahinch are popular for bathing as well as with surfers and anglers. Also, if you like fishing, Lickeen Lake is nearby as is Inchiquin Lake at Corofin and you've got the whole Atlantic coastline practically to yourself.Cliffs of Moher Cruises and Ferries to the Arran Islands from Doolin

There are several Pitch and Putt courses in the area and a championship golf course in Lahinch. In Doolin, you can enjoy more Irish traditional music and take a day trip to the Aran Islands or a cruise beneath the majestic Cliffs of Moher.

You won't be short of things to do when you stay with us in Kilfenora.
